Being a Conviction CrossFitter means that you are part of a team. It is about more than getting in your car, driving to the gym, and having your score, time etc on the whiteboard. Your actions, attitude, and words have an impact on the rest of us. We had several victories yesterday. I want to tell you about one in particular. The one o’clock class consisted of Lee and Andy. If you know them, you already know that both of them gave incredible effort in the running wod. What inspired me as a spectator (with a flat tire) was what happened at the end of the workout. Lee was gasping for air and trying to recover from her last 100 m sprint. Andy had one to go and had just dug deep to run the previous 100 m (like he was trying to impress coaches at the NFL Combine). While Andy was mustering the grit to run one last time, Lee suddenly jumps up and says, “lets go Andy!” and they both took off. It was one of the best head-to-head 100 m dashes that I had ever seen.
That’s teamwork. And those are good teammates. Andy, without a doubt, would have given his best effort running the last one by himself, but a good teammate can always get a little more out of you. Lee did not have to run another 100 m and Andy did not have to push himself to the wall to win a footrace, but they both did what they did. That is simply teammates both following their convictions and helping someone else follow theirs. And both of them walked away better for it. This is the kind of team that we have and what we aspire to always be at Conviction Crossfit.
This is just one example of what today was like. Many of you saw a tough wod on the board today, showed up anyway, pushed yourselves and each other to work hard, and got better. I appreciate your enthusiasim, effort, and teamwork.
By the way, thanks to those of you who have made sacrifices lately to help me out with my busted leg. Missy, Shondra, Justin, you have gone the extra mile.
Congrats to Brian T on getting his first muscle up!
Sorry for the verbal vomit, but you can’t complain when there are so many positive things to say.
Get stronger today!
