We salute you Johnny West! …and not just for your great keg swimming and fire leaping abilities.   We have figured out over the last 11 months that working out with you is actually performance enhancing…  It’s true, and there is now a scientific explanation to give merit this theory:

Right at that point during a wod when you feel your lungs are going to burst into flames you hear that familiar sound.  There is no way to properly explain it, spell it, or duplicate it (though many have tried).  It something like a large predatory bird in distress… maybe like a hawk…or a parakeet.   It is common reaction to this startling sound to gasp, laugh, and then take a big deep breath, therefore ridding the lungs of used air and filling them fully with fresh oxygen rich air.  This increases oxygen levels in the blood and slows lactic acid build up in the muscles which in turn increases stamina, and overall muscular performance.

This information has not yet been proven, but your great attitude, intensity, and hard work is a blessing to have around.  Thank you Johnny for being our secret weapon to becoming better athletes!  This WOD’s to you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
